  1. Microsoft¿ Internet Connection Wizard

  3. After you install Microsoft Internet Explorer, you are ready to start setting up your computer for the Internet. If you don╒t have an Internet service provider, the Internet Connection wizard helps you set up your account.

  6. System Requirements
  7. Ñ MacOS compatible computer with a 68030 or higher processor
  8. Ñ System 7.1 or higher
  9. Ñ A modem (14.4K baud or higher) or a connection to a local area network
  10. Ñ 8 megabytes (MB) RAM or more
  11. Ñ 4 to 5 MB of free hard-disk space

  14. To start the Internet Connection Wizard:
  15. 1. Quit any Internet applications that are running.
  16. 2. If the Internet Connection wizard is not running, double-click the Internet Connection Wizard icon in the Internet Connection Wizard folder.
  17. 3. Read the Welcome information, and then click Next.
  18. 4. Select the type of Internet connection set up you want the Internet Connection wizard to perform.
  19.     Ñ    To set up a new Internet connection, choosing from a list of Internet service providers, click Automatic. 
  20.     Ñ    To enter your own settings for a new or existing Internet connection, click Manual.
  21.     Ñ    To use your current Internet account and settings without any modifications, click Current.
  22. 5. Follow the instructions on your screen.

  24. Important: Restart your computer when instructed by the Internet Connection wizard so that the network settings can take affect.

  27. Out of Memory
  28. Depending on the system you are running, you may need to lower the memory set aside for Internet Explorer. To do so:
  29. 1. Click the Internet Explorer application icon to select it.
  30. 2. On the File menu, choose Get Info.
  31. 3. In the Preferred Size box, enter 3000 or less.
  32. 4. Click the close box in the upper-left corner.
  33. 5. Continue with the Internet Connection wizard setup.

  35. After you are finished using the Internet Connection wizard, repeat steps 1 through 5 and increase the number in the Preferred Size box to match the Suggested Size number or higher.

  38. Attention 68030 Macintosh Users 
  39. If the Internet Connection wizard quits unexpectedly, make sure that 32-bit memory addressing is on. To do so, choose Control Panels from the Apple menu, double-click Memory, and then click 32-Bit Addressing. This change will not take effect until you restart your Macintosh.
